Check out these slim fast images:

Rack

I’ve had a few people ask what my basement server rack looks like. Since I’m about to reconfigure the rack, I thought that this would be a good time to document a bit of the “before” and “after”. This is obviously the “before”.

The reconfiguration will include replacing a cranky, ten year old Tripp Lite SmartPro 700RM UPS (the grey device at the very bottom of the rack) with a pair of brand new, slim line APC Smart-UPS 750VA units. I also need to find room to stuff a second Power Macintosh G4 and an Xserve in there somewhere.

Much to my chagrin (and silly pleasure) this photo has been featured on several geektastic sites over the past week or so, including:

Make
Cult of Mac
DeepApple

Thanks for the linkage, folks.

Granny Marvels
slim fast

In the dim and distant past,
When life’s tempo wasn’t fast,
Grandmas used to rock and knit,
Crochet doillies and baby sit.
But Grandma you go to the gym,
Exercising to keep slim,
Or you’re off touring with the bunch,
Or joining all your friends at lunch.
Driving north to fish or hike,
Or riding miles on your bike,
I think perhaps you go too far
You’re off your rocker,
Our Dear Grandma.

Pupparin

(www.comune.venezia.it/flex/cm/pages/ServeBLOB.php/L/FR/ID…)

A fast, agile boat traditionally used by
maritime guards or as a barca da casada (family boat). Wider in the stern (poppa), from which it takes its name, the pupparin is generally 9 or 10 m long and can be rowed by between one and four oarsmen. With its slim, sleek profile and daringly soaring bows the pupparin is a distinctively elegant and refined craft. (www.regatastoricavenezia.it/rs.php?lang=en&pg=9&p…)

(www.regatastoricavenezia.it/rs.php?lang=it&pg=9&p…)
